Personal Electronic Device Policy

• All personal electronic devices are to be out of sight and placed on silent during class and instructional time between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm during the school day. The policy includes cellular devices, personal laptops, iPad/tablets, video games, and wireless headphones/Air Pods.
• Personal computers, laptops, and iPads are not permitted to be used by students.
• SEMS is not responsible for any lost or damaged personal electronic devices.

Consequences

• 1st offense: Warning - Student will be reminded to put the device away.
• 2nd offense: Teacher collects the device until the end of the class period (incident will be written up as a minor offense).
• 2rd offense: Teacher collects the device until the end of the class period (incident will be written up as a minor offense and parent will be contacted).
• 4th offense: Teacher collects the device until the end of class (incident will be written up as a minor offense and parent will be contacted, lunch detention will be assigned).
• 5th offense: Office referral (automatic in-school suspension).
